There are many ways to make money. But, there are few ways to get money fast. What if you need some cash in an emergency? What if your friends or family cannot help you with a loan or finance and you need money urgency. Here is the solution for you; you can get cash for gold easily and without any fuss. At this moment, sometimes the only thing to do is to get your old gold jewellery items exchanged with fast cash from the best dealers at the best prices. It is the best and fastest way to get cash from your old fashioned gold jewellery, gold coins or any other gold items.

The gold that is in the form of a jewellery pieces such as necklace, bracelet, ring, or a set of earrings, an old fashioned gold watch may be valuable for you because of its design and the times or person it reminds you of, However, a professional gold buyer who pays cash for gold will buy it for its scrap value and you are paid only according to the weight and purity of the metal.
This is why if you genuinely feel that the jewellery carries sentimental value or is a family heirloom, you should not sell it. The ideal items to sell are the ones that you have hidden away in the corner of your closet or draws because they are useless, broken, stained, or simply something that you are not “emotionally attached” to.

Selling broken and unusable gold jewellery is a fine idea because the cash that it brings can be used for some other, more productive purposes. You can invest the amount in your bank savings account to earn more interest. Alternatively, if your house needs a new appliance or furnishing, the amount (received through gold sale) can be used to purchase, or at least make a part of payment against it.

With increasing competition in the world, there are a lot of companies and dealers that are ready to exchange gold for cash. But, you have to look for the reputed and genuine dealers who can offer best prices for your gold jewellery. You can get a good sum of cash by exchanging your unwanted and unused gold items for a good amount of money. You will never get your Retail value back for your gold jewellery that you are exchanging but a percentage of it as the value will only be for the gold content which has been very high and has stayed high in price since 2008 and the Global financial crisis.

Since then the price of gold has gone up so far that in a lot of cases you are at no loss when you are selling your gold jewellery or when you are exchanging it for cash.

Gold In New Zealand – History and Current News

Solid Gold Bullion

Solid Gold Bullion

Where is it found?

Gold is found as very small flecks in the quartz veins of hard rocks. Machines crush the rock, and a cyanide wash helped to separate out the gold.

Alluvial gold comes from the rocks worn down to sand and gravel over many thousands of years by rivers or glaciers. The gold lies in the gravel of river beds and can be sifted by hand using a pan, sluiced, dredged, or dug up with machines.

First discoveries

The first recorded discovery of gold in New Zealand was a small amount at Driving Creek near Coromandel in 1852. Some years later there were more discoveries around Golden Bay, Marlborough, Otago and on the West Coast.

Otago

Otago’s first gold rush was in 1861. Thousands of diggers went there to make their fortune.

West Coast

There were gold rushes on the West Coast from 1865. Miners cut through bush to reach the goldfields. Towns named Quartzopolis, Goldsborough and Crushingtown were quickly built to house the miners, and disappeared when they moved on.

Coromandel Peninsula

The first big find was near Thames in 1867. The gold was in hard rocks and expensive to mine, so companies rather than individuals took over. There were several very rich mines in this area, especially the Martha mine at Waihi.

Mining today

Gold helped make New Zealand’s economy successful because it attracted workers, investors and shipping. Because the price of gold was fixed, gold mining declined in the mid-20th century, but it was revived in the 1980s when the price was allowed to float.

Today, gold still earns NZ millions of dollars each year as modern machinery makes it possible to dig in places that were once impossible to mine. Large mines are in operation at Waihi and in Otago. Since ancient times, gold rings have symbolised engagement or marriage, status or been used as a seal for personal or business use.

But sometimes, a gold ring is not something you want to keep.

Distinctive Art Deco

Chain store fashion doesn’t tend to be high quality or unique.  People today have larger wardrobes, but many pieces are mass produced and made from inferior fabrics.

As a result, there’s a growing demand for quality and individuality, leading to a higher demand for quality vintage fashion – and jewellery.  Carla Caruso of Jeweller Magazine says “There is something magical about a jewellery piece with a past; wearing one is almost like being able to travel back in time to a bygone era.”

Art Deco jewellery is thought to have originated in Paris in 1925, after an art exhibition featuring futurism and cubism.  Egypt was also an influence – the discovery of King Tut’s tomb in 1923 captured people’s imaginations.

Art Deco style is comprised of curved pieces, angular lines, bold colours and geometric shapes.  Long earrings and necklaces, cocktail rings, intricate filigree and tassels are also typical.

Jewellery pieces were often made from diamonds, white gold and new metals like platinum, by major fashion houses including Tiffany & Co, Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier.

Though Art Deco style is celebrated in modern movies like The Great Gatsby (directed by Baz Luhrmann, 2013) and Grace of Monaco (directed by Olivier Dahan, 2014), distinctive Art Deco jewellery does not necessarily appeal to everybody.

Perhaps you have been given or inherited Art Deco jewellery that is not your style?  Then right now is a good time to have it valued by EzyCash Gold Buyers.

The team at EzyCash Gold Buyers are knowledgeable high-end vintage and second-hand jewellery appraisers, so you can be sure that you’ll receive a fair appraisal and the best price for your unwanted diamond, white gold and platinum Art Deco jewellery.

Broken jewellery can also be valuable.  You might not want to repair Art Deco jewellery pieces you don’t love or want to wear  – instead, see EzyCash Gold Buyers.

EzyCash buys your broken and dated diamond, white gold, platinum and Art Deco jewellery for cash, giving you the best price, in cash, instantly.

Hugely successful NZ fantasy films like the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, and television series like Game of Thrones, have entertained millions.

The fantasy genre is very popular right now – and having a huge effect on fashion.  Jewellery is no exception.

India Nicholson of Jeweller Magazine writes that “a recent collaboration between London-based Crow’s Nest Jewels and Walt Disney is one of the many jewellery collections that have emerged from a fantasy juggernaut.”

NZ suppliers Worth & Douglas hold the licensing rights for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings jewellery, including the famed gold “One Ring”.

As any Lord of the Rings fan knows, a gold ring is always valuable.

Since ancient times, gold rings have symbolised engagement or marriage, status or been used as a seal for personal or business use.

How Diamonds are Valued

Sell Diamonds for Cash

Sell Diamonds for Cash

“The 4 c’s” are the criteria jewellers use to grade diamonds.  They are:

  • Cut
  • Clarity
  • Colour
  • Carat Weight

Cut

A good cut gives a diamond its brilliance.

When a diamond is well-cut, light enters the stone and reflects from one side to the other before reflecting back out of the diamond to the observer’s eye. This light, and its flashing, fiery effect is what makes diamonds so mesmerizing.

In a poorly cut diamond, the light ‘leaks’ out from the sides or bottom of the diamond rather than reflecting back to the eye. Less reflected light means less brilliance.

Clarity

Natural diamonds are created under an incredible amount of pressure and most diamonds have flaws.

A diamond’s “clarity” is all about the flaws. There are two types:

  • Blemishes: found on the surface of the diamond
  • Inclusions: found within the diamond

“Inclusions” are flaws such as air bubbles, cracks, and non-diamond minerals found within the diamond.

“Blemishes” are scratches, pits, and chips (some blemishes occur during the cutting process, most often at the girdle).

Because they are less common, diamonds with no or few inclusions and blemishes are more highly valued and priced.

Colour

When jewellers speak of a diamond’s colour, they are usually referring to the presence or absence of colour in white diamonds. Colour is a result of the composition of the diamond, and it never changes over time.

Colourless diamonds allow more light to pass through so have more sparkle. Very few diamonds are truly colourless and they are more valuable.

Coloured diamonds do not follow this rule. These diamonds are very rare and expensive. They can be any colour, from blue to green to bright yellow. They are actually more valuable for their colour.

Fluorescence is a glowing effect seen in some gem-quality diamonds when they are exposed to long-wave ultraviolet light (such as nightclub black lights). Most gemmologists prefer diamonds without this effect, but it’s a matter of personal taste.

Carat

A carat is a unit of measurement used to weigh a diamond. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams, or 0.2 grams.

The word “carat” is taken from the carob seeds that people once used to balance scales. The seeds are so uniform in shape and weight that even today’s sophisticated instruments cannot detect more than three one-thousandths of a difference between them.

Large diamonds have a greater cost per carat and the price of a diamond rises exponentially to its size (e.g., a 2-carat diamond will cost more per carat than a 1-carat diamond of equal grade).

How to choose a Gold Buyer

It’s not always an easy decision to part with gold jewellery or watches, so when the time comes, you want to be sure you’re getting the best price from a well-established, reputable company.

If you do a little research, it won’t take long to establish why other gold and silver buying companies haven’t had much success on the market – the prices they pay for your precious pieces are too low, and their overheads in large malls and shopping centres are too high. It’s a no-brainer that these overheads are being passed on to you by not paying you what your gold jewellery is really worth, however it’s this business model that hasn’t afforded them much longevity on the market. Also, while shopping centres may have high foot traffic, it’s hardly a place where sellers will feel comfortable discussing the sale of their unwanted gold jewellery.

When it comes to selling your unwanted gold jewellery, choose a well-established company with a reputation for paying top price.
