Diamonds come in a multitude of colours.

The stereotype of a diamond is that diamonds are clear and bright, but diamonds can be anything from blue-white, to yellow, to even black (a result of light refracting from something inside the diamond).

At EzyCash Gold Buyers, bring a diamond of any colour into our store in Panmure,Aucklandfor an expert valuation.  Bring in diamond jewellery or even a diamond engagement ring from a former relationship.  You’ll receive a top cash price of your diamond – whatever the colour.

It’s estimated that out of 10,000 diamonds collected only 1 diamond will be coloured.  The rest will be colourless or nearly colourless diamonds.

The rarest of all coloured diamonds is the pink diamond.  And a pink diamond of rare quality has just been unearthed in the Argyle mine at East Kimberley inWestern Australia.  It has taken 26 years for the mining company to unearth a diamond like this and they believe they may not see a diamond of this calibre again.

The Argyle mine provides about 95% of all the worlds pink diamonds and their pink diamonds are of a much more intense colour than their Indian and Brazilian counterparts.

In the past, pink diamonds with a weight of about one carat have sold for almost $2 million.

This diamond weighs over 12 carats.

Traditionally large pink diamonds have been gifted to museums, royalty or sold at auction houses like Christie’s.  In it’s 244 history, Christie’s has only sold 18 pink diamonds of over 10 carats in weight.

This latest pink diamond was discovered about two months ago.  Since then, the diamond has been subject to careful assessment and planning.  The polishing and cutting of the diamond will begin soon, with the process taking about 10 days.  The diamond polisher, Richard How Kim Kam, says he will be taking the polishing “very carefully”.

The mining company, Rio Tinto, would name the diamond the Argyle Pink Jubilee.

Even if you don’t have your hands on a rare pink diamond like the Argyle Pink Jubilee, bring your diamond jewellery into EzyCash Gold Buyers for an expert assessment and top cash price.  EzyCash Gold Buyers also pays top prices for gold, silver and luxury watches.  Come and see us in our store in Panmure, Auckland today.
